When One Door Closes, I Take a Picture

Like I said the other day, I love doors {I did say that, right?}. Almost every trip I take, I always notice them. A bright colored one, a wooden one, ornately carved, in rough shape, whatever, they seem to constantly strike my crazy photo-taking fancy. And, because I happen to take a lot of pictures, and am a bit shy about it at times, I try to take them in a hurry, so no one will notice, which is something that I realized when I was going through these photographs the last few minutes. So, I've decided to put a note in my jar {yes I have a jar, it's like a journal to me} that the next time I'm taking pictures, I will be completely un-Audrey {made up word alert!} and be brave. I will take my time and not apologize for lagging behind the rest of the group. I will take a steady, crooked-free photograph that is hang-worthy. And then I shall post it, proudly, on this blog. So watch out, world, this girl's got a camera, and I'm not afraid to use it {okay, maybe I am a little afraid. But that's beside the point}.

With that extremely long paragraph, let's commence to the pictures, which is probably why you came!

There's a story behind this picture, like most photographs. Next time you see me, ask if you're curious.

wildflowers

yay! i remembered my camera! i brought it all the way to work and stowed it away safe in a cupboard there, then almost forgot it :) but, as i was walking out of my shift, i had that mental "light bulb" and grabbed it.

so i got to take the wildflower pictures, after all. i was so excited to take them, and then edit them. although, i forgot that i had a high exposure rate on my camera for the first few frames, and they came off way over-exposed. but, i figured it out and bam! here are the pictures..

day 76: clouds

was july 1. a sunday. started out nice, then got rainy. but we still got ice cream. i also had the privilege to photograph a pretty pregnant lady! i can't wait to meet little lydia in the very very near future!

anyways. like i said, we got ice cream. it was raining, then cleared up, then rainy. schizophrenic, the weather was. like ireland's weather. we saw an impressive rainbow, and then i was impressed by the raindrops on the sunroof.

day 56: bandaids

i know i've posted before about my obsession with bandaids. monday before i went to work i decided that maybe my foot might feel better if i put some bandaids with ointment on it (this didn't really help, since i ended up spending like four hours at the hospital that evening, coming out with a prescription for the infection and an order to stay off it for a week and the doctor saying, "it might be broken"). but what better way to go with bandaids than angry birds and wolverine (batman, i say)?

day 53: bottoms up!

today i thought of an ingenious (at least i think so) photo project idea!!!!!!!!

BOTTOMS UP. or, i was thinking, AT THE BOTTOM, LOOKING UP. but bottoms up is prolly easier to remember. the idea is, take pictures from low angles or looking up at the bottom of things. so often these things i think get overlooked, but as someone who notices more than perhaps i'm supposed to, i notice little edges and things often, i think. and then when i was thinking of things i could capture, it was like an endless wealth over here! so be prepared to be bored more with this whole idea. after i've exhausted all the things i can "picture" (haha, yeah, i know), i have something else in my mind's eye. so get ready, and stay tuned! because i'm WICKED excited!!! woohoo!

the idea started when i saw these three skirts hanging in a row. they looked kind of neat to me, so, although it's not the most "awesome" picture, i'm posting this one, because it started it all....

and, because i had so much fun playing crouching tiger, hidden dragon (or however it goes), here's two more shots. humorous, and because dad sat and let me take his sole-ful picture.

day 17: an experiment

a while ago one of my friends (who is an amazing photographer) was telling me about a project i should try with my pictures. i tried it a few weeks ago with my mom, but i didn't really get into it as much as i wanted to (the pictures when i tried it didn't come out, but here's the link post: http://sevencsphotography.blogspot.com/2012/04/day-3-colors.html).

anyways, i was trying to figure out which picture i wanted to post today, and came up with this one, hope you like it:

day 10: power

lesson one today. don't ever let me weed your garden. today, in an attempt to be helpful, i decided to weed my mother's garden. should be easy enough, you know, with all the little things barely popping out of the ground, and weeds are pretty obvious, aren't they?

apparently not. at least, in my case. mom asked me if i weeded when she got home.

"yes, i only pulled up what i was sure were weeds," i said, eagerly, as we ate dinner.

she smiled. proceeded to tell me that i pulled up a foxglove.

OOPS. well, a lesson learned.

Day 3: Colors

I'm still compiling my list of 366 photo opportunities...so right now I'm kind of winging it :) Today is day 3, and I was going to try something else, and then I found these supremely old food colorings in the cupboard, and I thought they made a neat subject!

On a side note, this weekend I'm going to scrounge for time to post, because I'll be out of town; and, as of 9:37 pm tonight, we need 972 pageviews to meet our 5k goal!

(actually, correction, I was so used to doing subtraction in the nine hundreds and I am horrible at math. we only need 872 :) )

It's Friday, Friday, Friday..

Okay, I don't have much time this morning but I had enough time for a quick blog post. It's Friday! Woohoo! Congratulations, you've almost made it through another work week (or, in my case, you still have to work Saturday, so you're just saying this to appease the crowds, or, Friday just has that special "feeling" about it).

And while we're on the subject, well, we weren't really on the subject, but I really need to stop putting my foot in my mouth.

Anyways, enjoy!
