Winter Wonderland

I haven't updated in a month???? What has happened to the time! It's supposed to slow down in winter time and be nice and cozy and you're supposed to get caught up on everything you don't have time for the other months of the year. Apparently not. But I'm updating right now, so there.

Since it's winter, what would winter be without snow? {At least, here in the Northeast}

The Fog!

I love fog. Except, driving in it. That really scares me. Like I'm going to accidentally run someone over. Irrational thoughts, by Audrey.

I haven't really ever shot in the fog {oops I lied, I took photos once before in it} before these so forgive their over-amateurish qualities.

Ice Storm {Part 2}

    I was editing tonight and decided I wasn't too impressed with the other pictures that I promised you of part 2, so I thought maybe I would try them in black and white (I love black and white photography. Think Ansel Adams or Alfred Eisenstaedt except for the fact that I will never attain to their epic awesomeness).

   So instead of posting all mediocre photos just to post a post (hello from the department of redundancy department) I bring you the ice in black in white :) hope you enjoy!

Ice Storm {Part 1}

   I realized I had a lot of photos of the ice storm {although it wasn't nearly as impressive as I thought it would be} so I couldn't show them all to you in one blog post {also I don't have time to edit them in one sitting} that's why I've labelled it "Part One".

   Can you believe it's 2014 already? Seems like yesterday that my dad bought me my first point and shoot and the passion was ignited. My goal for this year is to post more often, and to do that, I'll have to get out there more than I did last year and shoot photos for those posts.

   If you want to get the spark back between you and your camera, I suggest going to watch "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" {the new one with Ben Stiller. I love the old one with Danny Kaye, though, for other reasons} because you will not only want to dust off your camera, but you're going to want to visit Iceland and take amazing photos {I've started saving for my next adventure, who knows where it will be, but one thing I know for sure is that it will be somewhere there are amazing shots to be taken}. Also, you will want to download the soundtrack, because it has some pretty great music on it.

   Okay. So, the photos you have been waiting for {why would you visit this blog if you weren't here for the photos, because the blog writer is kind of a ditz and writes like this is her own personal journal}.....

The Pine Tree State. 

Even though we have beheld winter wind itself around our bodies with its cold, cold air, and we have seen the snowflakes flutter past our noses to the ground, one thing reminds us that one day, we will see the ground again. 

The evergreen. 

It stands tall in most yards around here, it is the big brother and sister of the forest, standing high above the rest of the trees, almost as a bodyguard, protecting the deciduous forests during the most brutal season of all- winter. 

And so I have decided to make it the foremost subject of my latest post here. 

Maybe some on deciduous trees next time :) 

Spring Has Sprung, In Which I Call My Favorite Groundhog Wrong This Time Around (All In Good Fun)

They say if you don't  like the weather here, wait a minute. After living here my whole life (yes, I'm boring like that), I believe it. I've seen the weather change drastically.

Though Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow on February 2, predicting six more weeks of winter (which incidentally would end today, if my calculations are right, since I am terrible at math), we have been having some beautiful weather the last few weeks! So, unfortunately, though I love the little fellow, I think he was a little off this winter. Yes, we had a freak snowstorm, and probably once I publish this the sky will start powdering the ground with white stuff, but I think spring is actually here. I mean, it smelt like spring the other day, and that in itself should be reason enough :)

So although the calendar says that spring doesn't officially arrive until Tuesday, March 20, I think the trees are thinking otherwise.

That last statement didn't make quite a lot of sense, so I'm going to stop writing and show you some pictures, which is obviously why you came here. So I hope you enjoy them!

it snowed yesterday. then rained today. my mom called me at seven thirty on the dot this morning and told me to bring my camera out today, because it was "so pretty outside." i muttered, "ok," and went back to sleep until my alarm went off ten minutes later.

when i actually went outside, i was disappointed because the day was gray. and it wasn't "so pretty" out, so far, ten minutes into my commute.

but when you look closer at your surroundings, you might just be amazed.

and your day might turn into something better than you thought it would.
