Some Things Never Get Old

   This weekend we had visitors. Visitors from across the pond. And from across the pond I mean Paris. Not Paris, Maine. Paris, Paris. The city of love. One of my favorite places. I mean, you practically breathe art and romanticism when you set foot out of CDG airport. So that being said, we must make a good impression by showing them the beautifulness of where we live. We took them to:

• Portland Head Light (of course)
• Spring Point
• Flatbread (because there is SO much beauty in food!) 
• Old Port

   They (I think/hope) liked it. I mean, nothing compares to the Eiffel Tower, but I would say that the rocky coast and the smell of good, clean salt air in your lungs comes pretty close. At least, it brings a smile to my face.

the city of lights

It's hard to believe it's been one whole year since I took this picture. I wouldn't describe many things as magical, but I would definitely describe this sight as one of them. Breathtaking and dreamlike would be two other words I would describe it as. I wanted to see the Eiffel tower since I was about 14. I would sketch little pictures and pin photos of it around my room, never actually thinking I would actually get to see it. But when I did, I felt like I was walking in a dream. My breath caught, and my heart fluttered a little. Sounds silly. But it's honest.

If you ever get to see the Eiffel tower, I'd recommend seeing it at night. The day time view of it is quite amazing as well, but night is when it truly will catch you. If you get to see it at the top each hour til one a.m. you will see the Eiffel at its best--a flickering tower, which reminded me of thousands of flashbulbs echoing through the night's skyline. Correct Me If I'm Wrong..

So I was going through some pictures today to put on Etsy (that's right, I sell on Etsy. So sue me. Ok, please don't. Because the whole reason I sell there, and I haven't ever actually sold anything, is to break some extra cash for my upcoming trip to Ireland!), and I decided that I've never put this picture up on the blog. And I really like it. So, I asked myself, why haven't I put it up? And I couldn't actually come up with a logical answer. So today I'm going to put it up here (I've used the word "so" a lot in this post. Please don't hold it against me. I couldn't think of a better word today). I also was reading in a book yesterday about footnotes, and how useful they are. I guess I apply the same advice to my parentheses, which I had to look up the word for, because I am having one of those "mental block" days, and couldn't think of the name for them. Anyhow. Here is today's picture. I'm going to try to post more often, because I used to post every day, and right under my blog title, it says, "a photo a day keeps the boredom away," and I haven't actually lived up to that, since I posted exactly eight, fifteen, and ten posts in February, January, and December (in that order, and I just used the parentheses because I could, and wanted another excuse for them).

I don't have a whole lot to write here tonight. So I'm going to not say a whole lot, and leave you with another picture. Because they say a picture says a thousand words, so if I give you two, I guess it's the equivalent of me writing you 8 pages of nonsensical thoughts, plus the 56 words I've already typed out here (if, indeed, I've counted right).
