Some Things Never Get Old

   This weekend we had visitors. Visitors from across the pond. And from across the pond I mean Paris. Not Paris, Maine. Paris, Paris. The city of love. One of my favorite places. I mean, you practically breathe art and romanticism when you set foot out of CDG airport. So that being said, we must make a good impression by showing them the beautifulness of where we live. We took them to:

• Portland Head Light (of course)
• Spring Point
• Flatbread (because there is SO much beauty in food!) 
• Old Port

   They (I think/hope) liked it. I mean, nothing compares to the Eiffel Tower, but I would say that the rocky coast and the smell of good, clean salt air in your lungs comes pretty close. At least, it brings a smile to my face.

day 31: the eiffel

thursday was a busy day! I got my bookcase all organized (if you know me, then you know i'm a big book freak...er...fan. positive thinking!) six shelves of delicious works of literature, most of which i have read. and, on the very top, this amazing structure!

day 19: the super moon!

has anyone been out to check out the super moon this lovely evening? i have, and it's amazing. it brings back memories, because the last super moon i saw over the eiffel tower in france (miss that place). i heard that the peak would be around eleven thirty tonight. so if you live on the east coast, you've got just about a half an hour to make your popcorn and grab your lenses!

i really wanted to post one with a moon flare, because i am pretty well obsessed with flares of any kind in pictures, but this one came out a bit better than the ones with moon flares (a green dot in the picture that some would probably say, "oh! a UFO!" now you know where the tabloids get their pictures. jk. they don't get them from me).

and, side note, i saw a porcupine today! so cute! he lives under our shed, which my pops is NOT impressed with.

the city of lights

It's hard to believe it's been one whole year since I took this picture. I wouldn't describe many things as magical, but I would definitely describe this sight as one of them. Breathtaking and dreamlike would be two other words I would describe it as. I wanted to see the Eiffel tower since I was about 14. I would sketch little pictures and pin photos of it around my room, never actually thinking I would actually get to see it. But when I did, I felt like I was walking in a dream. My breath caught, and my heart fluttered a little. Sounds silly. But it's honest.

If you ever get to see the Eiffel tower, I'd recommend seeing it at night. The day time view of it is quite amazing as well, but night is when it truly will catch you. If you get to see it at the top each hour til one a.m. you will see the Eiffel at its best--a flickering tower, which reminded me of thousands of flashbulbs echoing through the night's skyline.
