Springtime

Okay, so I know technically springtime is almost over for most of you, but here in the Northeast, everything is finally blooming (take that, winter). Today is such a nice day outside that I just had to get out there and take a couple of photos (32 to be exact...yes, I often get carried away with the Rebel).

Here are just three of my favorites!

oh hello, spring

what with the beautiful day that turned out to be way more gorgeous than the weathermen said, i felt impelled to step outside and enjoy the beautiful afternoon air! everything is starting to poke their tiny green heads out of the ground, and the air has that lovely balmy feel to it, that just surrounds your body like a comforting blanket.

i started out with a plan of just snapping the crocuses, but soon found myself wandering aimlessly around the garden and backyard, shooting here and there, even finding the minute beauty in a few dead-looking black-eyed susans from last season, with their tiny brown seed pods spiraling into a Fibonacci-like pattern.

so here are the photos for today:

around the house

I've been reading lots of blogs right now and have been inspired. I'm trying very hard to make it out of the dark tunnel of no pictures!! So yesterday I took out the Rebel and shot a few frames around the old homestead. Here are some of my winners:

 "Life in Miniature"

"Stuck Inside"

wildflowers

yay! i remembered my camera! i brought it all the way to work and stowed it away safe in a cupboard there, then almost forgot it :) but, as i was walking out of my shift, i had that mental "light bulb" and grabbed it.

so i got to take the wildflower pictures, after all. i was so excited to take them, and then edit them. although, i forgot that i had a high exposure rate on my camera for the first few frames, and they came off way over-exposed. but, i figured it out and bam! here are the pictures..

reflective flowers

i love this time of year. except for the fact that winter's coming and allergies are flying high, it is a great time of year! soon, i plan on repeating last year's photo shoot with mom and dad, and i can't wait to capture those great colors we're soon to see all around us in the trees.

so, what have you been doing in the interim between summer and fall? september is one of my busier months, i mean, every month is busy, but september is just a tad busier than the others. although, this weekend i am taking off with a couple of my friends to go camping up north. and next weekend, my brother jack's coming to visit (and he's running a marathon! gasp!).

background on this photograph:

i love mirrored pictures (as you have probably noticed reading and viewing this blog, if you have followed this blog for any time at all), and today, i totally meant to bring my camera with me in my travels out, because there is this wicked neat dirt road with an old fence and yellow flowers quite like these, poking up all around. but, you guessed it, this girl's brain completely forgot, until halfway up to where i had to go, and you know, you can't turn around when you're late anyways. so, the photo will have to wait. hopefully i will remember thursday to trek my camera bag along with me to work (thursday readers, help me remember!).

last friday i came back to my car in a dark parking lot and found this pot of flowers on my windshield. i had the "oh it's from a secret admirer" smile for about ten seconds, when i realized they were from my dad. and then i had the "i have the sweetest dad" smile on. friday was a good day. saturday was, too. every day is a good day. you just have to find the good in it. i guess you could call it a scavenger hunt. some days the game is just a bit harder than others.

the second picture is a saying i heard and i liked it a lot. quite apropos with the above statement..

anyways. i hope you all are having a good week so far, and thanks for visiting!

summer vegetables

well, it's the end of summer (sad face), but the beginning of the crispness of autumn! although i will miss the warm feel of sun and the additional vitamin D it provides, windows down with my shades on, and the extra excuse to buy an ice cream cone "because it's summer", there are plenty of things to look forward to with fall approaching. in fact, today was, i believe, the first day that you could actually feel it in the air. that crisp, clean breeze that makes you want to pull out a cozy sweater and jeans, sip tea or cocoa, and sit and read a nice, long book. and (bonus!), there is the fact that the amazing colors are about to appear on the scene, especially here! i love bright colors anyways (just ask my friends or look at the clothes i wear on a daily basis), so these oranges, reds, and yellows, you can guess just make this girl happy. i will try not to think about the winter coming. brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

so, anywho, there are a few photographs i will share with you today from my recent explorations outside of instagram.

the first is a photo of our pepper from the garden! doesn't it look delicious? well, it was :)

day 101: a gift

july 24.

my parents bought me flowers when i got home from ireland. isn't that like the cutest thing ever? you are probably muttering, "no, are you like twelve? you use the word 'like' a lot", or something along those lines. well, dislike it or not, whether you are a cold human being with no heart or a kind souled person who thinks this is cute (i'm joking with these analogies, by the way, and amusing myself the whole time i'm typing away), this is the photo of the day, so you're just going to have to...DEAL WITH IT.
