rocky crag

I guess this post title is a bit redundant, since the definition of crag is a rugged rock or cliff, and all cliffs are probably made of rock. So hence, redundancy. Don't you just love dictionaries?

Do you have any goals for the new month? My goal for April is to get out of the photo slump that I've been in the last few months and start taking more photographs. I just love looking at beautiful images. One of my favorite photographers is Alfred Eisenstaedt. He captured so many beautiful, yet candid shots. Check out his work if you haven't already. You'll thank me later. But I'm sure you've already seen some of his work.

Some Things Never Get Old

   This weekend we had visitors. Visitors from across the pond. And from across the pond I mean Paris. Not Paris, Maine. Paris, Paris. The city of love. One of my favorite places. I mean, you practically breathe art and romanticism when you set foot out of CDG airport. So that being said, we must make a good impression by showing them the beautifulness of where we live. We took them to:

• Portland Head Light (of course)
• Spring Point
• Flatbread (because there is SO much beauty in food!) 
• Old Port

   They (I think/hope) liked it. I mean, nothing compares to the Eiffel Tower, but I would say that the rocky coast and the smell of good, clean salt air in your lungs comes pretty close. At least, it brings a smile to my face.

day 40: seniors!

well, technically only one senior. that's right, i did my very first senior portrait session (unless, of course, you count my own senior pictures. hello, fake tripod made of three books and an old tissue box)! cody was awesome! he was up for anything, and he even laughed at my cheesy jokes! gotta' love it.

Spotlight

I don't normally do the spotlight on pictures because it cuts out too much for my liking. But this picture was different. I wanted to focus the viewer's attention on the subject of the lighthouse, without all of the landscape in between the lens and the lighthouse distracting them. I hope you like it.

Tuesday's Tree

I have an awesome shot (I think) for tomorrow, so stay tuned! Until then, I'm showing you Tuesday's Tree, as I like to call it. It's a beautiful day out today, and this is a shot from Saturday. But I'm posting it on Tuesday, so that's why it's Tuesday's Tree. So deal with it. I didn't have to tell you it wasn't actually shot on Tuesday :)

An update on how our quest for 5,000 views is going: as of my last checking (two seconds ago), we are at 3,914. So we need 1,086 views by May 10. Can we do it? Well, only you can know that.

Let's Talk About...

old times. Whenever I go to Portland Head Light, in Cape Elizabeth, ME, I think back to a time a long time ago. I think I was about six or seven. I don't remember, and that's not important. I remember visiting the famous light house with my family, right at sundown, in summer, when the golden light hits, just so. Maybe it's my memory that has turned it golden, maybe it was actually that color, who knows. I remember the green grass and Frisbee. I remember envying the kid in front of me, with light up sneakers (you remember those? When you stepped a bunch of red lights flickered. I never got a pair, but I was so jealous of the kids that got them. But then again, my pink Velcro sneakers were pretty awesome). Ahhh....the things you remember. Anyhow. I thought I would pay a visit there soon. Until then, here's a photo I snapped the time before last that I was there, in December 2010. I was going through some old pictures and was struck with nostalgia for the place.

I Really Couldn't Help Posting Twice!

Remember that post where I said I don't post as much as I want to? (Anyone, anyone?....)

TODAY I DISCOVERED THE HISTORY BRUSH TOOL ON PHOTOSHOP AND I CAN'T STOP. Don't laugh at me for just realizing it was there. I'm an amateur and I'll be the first to admit it. Anywho. Like I said, I can't stop. I've been thumbing through a bunch of oldies but goodies and history brushing them. TO PERFECTION :) okay, maybe not perfection, but I'm going to sound super conceited when I say this, but this picture kinda took my breath away when I sat back and looked at it.
