i only named the post this because that's what the beach boys are crooning away right now. that's right, i listen to the beach boys every now and then. when i was thirteen or fourteen, they were my absolute favorite band. oh yeah. and my brother and i had this ongoing argument about whether it was "help me rhonda" or, "help me wanda". I was on the "R" side, because, hello, on the album it said it, but my brother always refused to believe it, enunciating the "W" every time it played from my stereo speakers. oh, the things one song can help you remember. but yes, I am a big oldies fan. i didn't start listening to pop until i was around fourteen. enough of this rambling. i was taking a break from a side job i'm doing right now to stretch my brain and fingers by typing away a blog post and editing a photo, all while revelling in the sheer fact that it's past six and the sun is still bright and cheery outside my winter. seems everyone's forgotten that just a few weeks ago, the ground was covered in white ice stuff and when you breathed in deep, it was as if you were breathing in a tiny bit of Jack Frost.
So here's today's picture, after all of that nonsense!

some short shots of what i've been working on {in photography}
Just like the exceedingly long title to this blog post says, these are a few of the photographs I've taken lately. I hope you enjoy them. I also hope you're all getting plenty of chances to get out there and smell the roses (or daffodils, or carnations, or forsythias, or whatever happens to be in bloom in your area) because they only bloom for so long.

oh hello, spring
what with the beautiful day that turned out to be way more gorgeous than the weathermen said, i felt impelled to step outside and enjoy the beautiful afternoon air! everything is starting to poke their tiny green heads out of the ground, and the air has that lovely balmy feel to it, that just surrounds your body like a comforting blanket.
i started out with a plan of just snapping the crocuses, but soon found myself wandering aimlessly around the garden and backyard, shooting here and there, even finding the minute beauty in a few dead-looking black-eyed susans from last season, with their tiny brown seed pods spiraling into a Fibonacci-like pattern.
so here are the photos for today:

around the house
I've been reading lots of blogs right now and have been inspired. I'm trying very hard to make it out of the dark tunnel of no pictures!! So yesterday I took out the Rebel and shot a few frames around the old homestead. Here are some of my winners:
"Life in Miniature"
"Stuck Inside"

rocky crag
I guess this post title is a bit redundant, since the definition of crag is a rugged rock or cliff, and all cliffs are probably made of rock. So hence, redundancy. Don't you just love dictionaries?
Do you have any goals for the new month? My goal for April is to get out of the photo slump that I've been in the last few months and start taking more photographs. I have been admiring a whole lot of photos lately, you can catch a brief glimpse of them on my Pinterest board: http://pinterest.com/aucilater/photography/
I just love looking at beautiful images. One of my favorite photographers is Alfred Eisenstaedt. He captured so many beautiful, yet candid shots. Check out his work if you haven't already. You'll thank me later. But I'm sure you've already seen some of his work.
Anyhow, today's pic of the day.

keys
Keys. They're pretty great. I mean, if you didn't have your house keys, you'd be locked out of home sweet home. If you didn't have your car keys, you wouldn't be able to get to wherever you need to go. And if you didn't have the key to your heart, you'd never be able to give it away to that special someone.
Recently I've been getting into more crafts. I've always been into them, just ask my six year old, glue-covered handed self. The one who littered the kitchen table with orange and brown construction paper bits the time she made a tree picture (I never found out where that got to, but that was one of my first creations I was really proud of). So I've decided that in addition to posting photography on the blog, I'll let you glimpse into a little more of this girl's life, starting with the biggest trend right now: do it yourself projects. Sure, I'm a little late in letting the worldwide web know about it, but I've been adding to my Pinterest board for quite a while on this subject. So, after pinning and pinning and reorganizing those pins painstakingly, but loving every minute of it, I'm going back through and trying out all those ideas! Some work, some don't. One of today's projects is the glitter key. As much as I hate those girls who must have everything perfectly girly and feminine, I do have a secret love of the sparkly stuff. So, today, I unhooked all the keys from my key ring and girl-ified them. I decided to go the lazy way and just do glittery nail polish. Probably won't stay on there very long, but I'll try it for the time being.
Here's the photos, because what would be a Seven C's blog post without some photographic evidence?

Some Things Never Get Old
This weekend we had visitors. Visitors from across the pond. And from across the pond I mean Paris. Not Paris, Maine. Paris, Paris. The city of love. One of my favorite places. I mean, you practically breathe art and romanticism when you set foot out of CDG airport. So that being said, we must make a good impression by showing them the beautifulness of where we live. We took them to:
- Portland Head Light (of course)
- Spring Point
- Flatbread (because there is SO much beauty in food!)
- Old Port
Where's your favorite place? Is it a popular landmark, a restaurant, or someplace close to home?
